Become an Aquatarium Volunteer Ambassador at the Aquatarium at Tall Ships Landing.
From hands-on interactive exhibits to personal encounters with native wildlife, the Aquatarium seeks to inspire a passion for learning and engage visitors in the distinctive history, culture and environment of the 1000 Islands. Share your knowledge and passion about the 1000 Islands & St. Lawrence Region with visitors and assist at events and education programs. As an ambassador, you will have the opportunity to meet individuals from around the world and join a family of fellow volunteers, staff, and wildlife experts who share a passion for the natural wonders of our region. The Ambassador program is open to anyone age 14+. We encourage students, college/grad students, adults and retirees to get involved.
Aquatarium Ambassadors responsibilities include:
Speaking with Aquatarium visitors and providing valuable and educational information about our experiences to engage and inspire curiosity about our diverse region.
Assisting and participating in special events
Assisting our Education Department instructors with school and family programs
Teaching visitors how to interact with live animals such as spider crabs, sea stars, whelks in our salt water touch pools
Opportunities for working behind the scenes with our Animal Husbandry team and other departments as requested.
Submerse yourself in the diverse history of our region through hands-on experiences and engagement with our visitors.
Requirements:
To get involved, please complete a volunteer application form available below. You must be at least 14 years or older. After an interview and orientation, accepted candidates must complete our on-site training course.
Participants are asked to volunteer one 3 1/2 hour shift per week at minimum. Days and shifts are flexible. Must be willing to commit to a min. of 6 months.
Application Process & Training Sessions:.
Applicants under age 18 must have a parent sign their application form. Additional forms will be required to be completed after the orientation process.
An orientation and interview are mandatory. We will call or e-mail you to schedule an interview after we have received and reviewed your completed application.
If accepted into the volunteer program, you will be required to attend an initial on-site training course, which is approximately 3-4 hours. Additional On-going training sessions will be available to our volunteers.

The Aquatarium is seeking experienced and qualified divers to join the Volunteer Dive Team.
Requirements:
– Physicians note stating fitness to dive
– Completion of online training modules
– 19 years or older
– Must be willing to wear Full Face Mask
