New this Fall, we are excited to offer a new program which utilises our Planetarium technology.
Guests are encouraged to lay on the floor beneath the stars (or sit on the bench seating) of our Pilot House and look up as we explore the galaxy and planets – like any astronaut would! Our 60 minute presentation explores both our solar system and highlights of what’s visible in the night sky on the evening of your show. This tour will include constellations, planets, the moon, colliding galaxies, an exploding star, glowing nebulae, star clusters and planetary transits. Each presentation will be based on realistic computer generated, large formatted images that are projected on the domed ceiling of the Aquatarium’s Pilot House.
The material presented during Starry Night is at a grade 9 level. All ages are welcome, however we ask that those in attendance refrain from causing disturbances during the presentation so that all guests can enjoy it. Please note that we offer astronomy lessons catered to younger children during our Saturday Junior Scientist program as well as at our summer camp.
Our season runs between October and May, from 6-7pm and takes place in our Pilot House space on the 4th floor of the Aquatarium.
Our 2017 dates are as follows:
- – October 16
- – November 21
- – December 19
Each Starry Night presentation will be facilitated by Paul Bullock. Paul brings with him a career of teaching here in Brockville at Thousand Islands Secondary School. Paul is also a long-time astronomy enthusiast. Needless to say we are very grateful for Paul’s time and knowledge that he shares.
In the past Paul has generously delivered astronomy lessons to children during our Junior Scientist and camp programs.
Ticket price will be $5 (incl. tax) cash at the door upon arrival. Please see our website and social media accounts (Facebook link, twitter link) for upcoming dates.
