Come say goodbye to Otter Pups Boldt & Lawrence by March 24th | Facility is open to the public Wed-Sun 10am-5pm | Ropes Course re-opening this summer!

Closed for the Season. Re-opening Summer 2019

Test your climbing skills on our challenging ropes course, one of the Aquatarium’s most engaging activities for adults and children aged 8 and up!

Ahoy, matey! Experience climbing through the rigging of a tall ship with our one-of-a-kind ropes course! Our High Ropes Course is a 9 element obstacle adventure suspended a minimum of 12 feet above our 3rd floor. Strapped into a harness with lanyards, you will learn how to navigate through our course in a safe but exciting way. Our trained staff will be on hand to help you traverse each obstacle. If you are fearless, we will keep a watchful eye but let you explore the course at your own pace.

Experience what it would be like to balance on the bowsprit or crawl across the yard arm like a crew member. Pretend you are a rum runner smuggling barrels across the border or climb up our ratline wall as you look at the 40 foot drop below.

The course is a great means to build confidence, problem solve and learn about historic ships of the Great Waterway in a fun and interactive way!

And if you dare….try our 40 foot quick jump called the AquaDrop! Attached to a Free Fall Device that uses eddy current magnetic braking technology, the AquaDrop provides you with an exciting controlled fall experience. Walk the small wooden plank and take a ‘leap of faith’ from our 4th floor down to the 1st floor.

When purchasing tokens for the Ropes Course you will sign up for a timeslot between 11:45am and 3:15pm. Timeslots can only be booked when participants are on site. Participants are given 45 minutes to complete the Ropes Course and AquaDrop. There are a maximum of 10 participants per timeslot. This helps ensure that wait times are minimized and that our staff can provide the safest experience for everyone!

We have several ways to volunteer at the Aquatarium, each with their own additional benefits and opportunities. We invite you to visit our VOLUNTEER page on the website to learn how you can join our team and become a part of our Aquatarium family for years to come!

Our otters are rescued North American river otters and are not domesticated. As such, they have a different temperament than those you may see on line where people are interacting with otters one on one. Those otters are usually Asian Small Claw otters and are not native to the St. Lawrence river. As there is no safe way to allow people, including our team members, to directly interact with river otters, we are unable to offer close encounters with them.

No. With the exception of our salt water touch tank, all our fish and animals in the Aquatarium are native to the St. Lawrence River area. We have otters, pike, sturgeon, carp, trout and bass just to name a few.

Follow us on our social media accounts (FacebookTwitter and Instagram) which we update regularly.

The experience takes approximately 90 minutes. However, this time will vary from person to person.

We take reservations for weddings, meetings and events. Book your special day with us now, and host your special day at one of the most exciting attractions in the 1000 Islands! Contact our Events Team to discuss all the details at: [email protected]

Yes! As long as you provide your admission receipt at the front desk before leaving ON THE DAY YOU PURCHASED the admissions, all the funds can be applied towards a yearly Friends membership! Remember, if you visit us a total of three times in a year, it will have paid for itself!

Yes, we have a limited number of wheelchairs available for visitors on a first-come, first-served basis.

We feature many types of fish that are indigenous to the St. Lawrence River and the surrounding 1000 Islands area. River otters, various reptiles, amphibians and many more friendly critters call the Aquatarium their permanent home. Ongoing guest speakers and scientists bring in different and unique species for special Aquatarium visits. We list them on our calendar of events so be sure not to miss them!

We are located at the foot of Broad Street in Brockville, Ontario, Canada, right on the waterfront. We are in the first floors of the Tall Ships Landing building and even offer indoor parking off Flint Street.  Our address is:
