Vendors exclusively from the Brockville Farmers’ Market will be in attendance, offering produce, preserves and local food to tantalize your tastebuds, and locally crafted gifts for the whole family. Our otters are rescued North American river otters and are not domesticated. As such, they have a different temperament than those you may see on line where people are interacting with otters one on one. Those otters are usually Asian Small Claw otters and are not native to the St. Lawrence river. As there is no safe way to allow people, including our team members, to directly interact with river otters, we are unable to offer close encounters with them.
No. With the exception of our salt water touch tank, all our fish and animals in the Aquatarium are native to the St. Lawrence River area. We have otters, pike, sturgeon, carp, trout and bass just to name a few.

Yes! As long as you provide your admission receipt at the front desk before leaving ON THE DAY YOU PURCHASED the admissions, all the funds can be applied towards a yearly Friends membership! Remember, if you visit us a total of three times in a year, it will have paid for itself!
We feature many types of fish that are indigenous to the St. Lawrence River and the surrounding 1000 Islands area. River otters, various reptiles, amphibians and many more friendly critters call the Aquatarium their permanent home. Ongoing guest speakers and scientists bring in different and unique species for special Aquatarium visits. We list them on our calendar of events so be sure not to miss them!

The Aquatarium is a registered not-for-profit charity who’s mission it is to inspire curiosity through enriching and entertaining experiences. The Aquatarium offers a full range of interactions & activities for kids, teens and adults, as guests are encouraged to experience life in the 1000 Islands region. Guests participate in hands-on interactive exhibits as well as seeing many species of fish and animals, such as otters, native to the St. Lawrence River. We have several replica ships that are found in the St. Lawrence river, as well as amazing experiences such as green screen adventures and a salt water touch tank! We seek to rekindle a passion for learning and engage visitors in the distinctive history, culture and environment of the 1000 Islands.
