Starry Nights
Jan 21 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Our season runs between September and May, from 6-7pm and takes place in our Pilot House space on the 4th floor of the Aquatarium.

Guests are encouraged to lay on the floor beneath the stars (or sit on the bench seating) of our Pilot House and look up as we explore the galaxy and planets – like any astronaut would! Our 60 minute presentation explores both our solar system and highlights of what’s visible in the night sky on the evening of your show. This tour will include constellations, planets, the moon, colliding galaxies, an exploding star, glowing nebulae, star clusters and planetary transits. Each presentation offers a new and exciting journey into space and will be based on realistic computer generated, large formatted images that are projected on the domed ceiling of the Aquatarium’s Pilot House.

The material presented during Starry Night is at a grade 9 level.  All ages are welcome, however we ask that those in attendance refrain from causing disturbances during the presentation so that all guests can enjoy it.

Each Starry Night presentation will be facilitated by Paul Bullock. Paul brings with him a career of teaching here in Brockville at Thousand Islands Secondary School. Paul is also a long-time astronomy enthusiast. Needless to say we are very grateful for Paul’s time and knowledge that he shares.
In the past Paul has generously delivered astronomy lessons to children during our Junior Scientist and camp programs.

Ticket price will be $5 (incl. tax) cash at the door upon arrival. Please see our website and social media pages for upcoming dates.

We have several ways to volunteer at the Aquatarium, each with their own additional benefits and opportunities. We invite you to visit our VOLUNTEER page on the website to learn how you can join our team and become a part of our Aquatarium family for years to come!

Our otters are rescued North American river otters and are not domesticated. As such, they have a different temperament than those you may see on line where people are interacting with otters one on one. Those otters are usually Asian Small Claw otters and are not native to the St. Lawrence river. As there is no safe way to allow people, including our team members, to directly interact with river otters, we are unable to offer close encounters with them.

No. With the exception of our salt water touch tank, all our fish and animals in the Aquatarium are native to the St. Lawrence River area. We have otters, pike, sturgeon, carp, trout and bass just to name a few.

Follow us on our social media accounts (FacebookTwitter and Instagram) which we update regularly.

The experience takes approximately 90 minutes. However, this time will vary from person to person.

We take reservations for weddings, meetings and events. Book your special day with us now, and host your special day at one of the most exciting attractions in the 1000 Islands! Contact our Events Team to discuss all the details at: [email protected]

Yes! As long as you provide your admission receipt at the front desk before leaving ON THE DAY YOU PURCHASED the admissions, all the funds can be applied towards a yearly Friends membership! Remember, if you visit us a total of three times in a year, it will have paid for itself!

Yes, we have a limited number of wheelchairs available for visitors on a first-come, first-served basis.

We feature many types of fish that are indigenous to the St. Lawrence River and the surrounding 1000 Islands area. River otters, various reptiles, amphibians and many more friendly critters call the Aquatarium their permanent home. Ongoing guest speakers and scientists bring in different and unique species for special Aquatarium visits. We list them on our calendar of events so be sure not to miss them!

We are located at the foot of Broad Street in Brockville, Ontario, Canada, right on the waterfront. We are in the first floors of the Tall Ships Landing building and even offer indoor parking off Flint Street.  Our address is:
6 Broad St.,
Brockville, Ontario

Yes! We have a Family Day-Pass. See the admission section for details.

The Aquatarium is a registered not-for-profit charity who’s mission it is to inspire curiosity through enriching and entertaining experiences. The Aquatarium offers a full range of interactions & activities for kids, teens and adults, as guests are encouraged to experience life in the 1000 Islands region. Guests participate in hands-on interactive exhibits as well as seeing many species of fish and animals, such as otters, native to the St. Lawrence River. We have several replica ships that are found in the St. Lawrence river, as well as amazing experiences such as green screen adventures and a salt water touch tank! We seek to rekindle a passion for learning and engage visitors in the distinctive history, culture and environment of the 1000 Islands.
